Available Blind Spot Information System (BLIS™), which Volvo pioneered over a decade ago, supports you when you have to change lanes in busy traffic. It alerts you when a vehicle enters your blind spot or approaches fast from behind. The rear-mounted radar sensors continuously monitor your blind spots and a large area behind your car, day or night. It also reacts to almost any type of vehicle, including motorcycles.
That feeling when you are about to change lane and all of a sudden a car appears out of nowhere, in your blind spot -- both shocking and scary. This particular hazard is something we've tried to address. The Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) gives you greater awareness. The radar sensors installed inside the rear of the car scan a large area behind the car. A small light beside your rear-mirror turns on when a car or other vehicle is in your blind spot. BLIS can now also monitor and alert of rapidly approaching vehicles up to 70 metres behind the car.
